FAQ

Do you offer in-person or virtual sessions?

Want an in-person session? Got ya covered. If you need to stay home, got ya covered. I can provide all services in person or virtually.

The benefits of in-person sessions are the ability to process deep feelings in a safe, sacred, held space. There’s less discretion about what you must do in person at home. You will have more time on your travels to and from to prepare for therapy and allow processing to continue. And I have tea to warm your hands and belly!

The benefit of being at home is you are comfortable and familiar with your surroundings. Sometimes, being surrounded by your things makes you sink quickly into yourself. Some clients have found that a computer screen between us has allowed them to close their eyes and be in their internal world more easily.

Where is your office located?
I have a home office at the corner of 8th and Lashley in Longmont. The exact address is shared when you have an in-person session scheduled.
What are your hours?

I see clients Tuesday – Thursday from 9 am to 3 pm.

Monday through Friday, I am available by email or phone (when not with clients) from 9 am to 4 pm.

How long are the sessions?

Sessions are 50-55 minutes in length.

If you, however, are interested in doing an IFS intensive, the sessions are three hours.

I can offer longer sessions as needed.

How do I set up an initial appointment?

The best way to set up an initial free 20-minute consultation is to schedule online here.

Using Simple Practice, you can see my availability and schedule sessions at times that work best for you.

What is your cancellation policy?

I have a 48-hour cancellation policy for no charge. There is a fee due for canceling between 24-48 hours. Cancellations within less than 24 hours will incur the full cost.

If you need to reschedule your appointment and there is availability before your next regularly scheduled appointment, there is no charge.

What age ranges do you serve?

I work with adults only, from age 18 or older. However, I generally see people from the age of 25-65.

Who do you work with?

I primarily provide individual therapy for moms, the LGBTQ+ community, and anyone dedicated to living authentically.

I can provide Human Design Readings to anyone!

What do you do in sessions?

We begin by identifying your goal for individual therapy sessions to provide the best direction.

Knowing your goal, I will guide you in speaking about parts of your body and the feelings/sensations in your body. I will support you in understanding what is happening inside of you.

Often, I have clients imagine what parts of themselves look like, and we build a relationship with those parts of you to create tangible shifts in how you feel in your body.

When the time is ready (don’t worry, I will know when), I will guide you through releasing the trauma, pain, and burdens that you are carrying.

Then, we focus on integration, allowing you to recognize your authentic self and know what you need.

Sessions are creative and flow. You come and tell me what is happening to you. My job is to hear what your system (all those parts you have) is doing and provide clear direction for healing the challenge.

In Human Design Readings, I will show you your human design chart and explain the overarching basics, from type, authority, profile, and strategy. Then, we get into more specifics of your chart. You are encouraged to share situations in life/parenting you are struggling with, and I will provide insight of what might be happening for you based on your human design chart.

For postpartum doula services, I come to your house. Focusing my eyes on mom/parent, I am there to meet your needs. This may be light house work, cooking meals, caring for baby so you can nap or shower, to running errands for you.

No matter what we do in sessions, there is an element of creativity, soul expansion, a more profound love of self, curiosity, compassion, and freedom to be your whole self.

Do your clients receive assignments to work on between sessions?

Work between sessions is 100% tailored by the client.

In therapy, I lean on the side of less instruction between sessions. However, when I provide an assignment, it is what YOUR part tells us they need. You could expect there will be a time that checking in with your part daily is required (on your part, not me). I will give you tools for how to do what your part needs.

These tools may include journaling, meditation/part check-ins, nourishing your body (water and food), breathwork, art, etc.

What modalities do you use in your client work?

My primary modality is Internal Family Systems (IFS). I continuously track parts, regardless of how you are talking. IFS is embedded in everything I do; it’s in my DNA. It just makes sense to me.

I also incorporate Human Design for clients who are interested in this. Human Design helps me be more focused and more precise with IFS work. It provides a way of knowing and language to help you be more aligned and authentic.

Although IFS is my specialty, I can also use person-centered, humanistic, Jungian, and dream work in sessions.

What is your professional training and expertise?

I have had a journey with professional training. Undergrad, I almost became an early childhood educator before switching my degree to Sociology: Human Services.

Then, I went to the Seminary at Chicago Theological Seminary and received a Master’s in Divinity.

You’d think that’s enough, but nope. Right after my seminary, I started in the Contemplative Psychotherapy program at Naropa. I lasted one year there before transferring to Regis, where I obtained my Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health.

During my last year in grad school, I received training from the IFS Institute for Level 1. Over the next two years, I completed the Institute’s Level 2 and Level 3 IFS training. Eventually, I did everything to become a Certified IFS therapist, which is why IFS is my bread and butter!

IFS is magic to me. Come experience the magic of IFS for yourself!

Is your spirituality going to be isolating and judgmental?

Not at all! I am part of the United Church of Christ. Yes, I’m Christian, but I’m a Christian who fully accepts and loves ALL people. There’s no judgment placed on the LGBTQ+ community. Heck, I’m part of you all, and I would NEVER stay in a church that told me I was going to hell! They don’t know what they are talking about! I can back up what I say biblically from my seminary training, but don’t worry, I will not talk about the Bible in sessions (unless you wanna).

The spirituality that comes into our sessions is Self-Energy (that’s what Dick Schwarz, the dude that created IFS, calls the core of who we are).

We might dabble with crystals, tarot cards, and divine channeling. However, that only occurs when clients want it, and that’s their world, too.

I’ve got full acceptance over here! No hate speech.

Which way does the toilet paper go?

Always from the top. The bathroom at my home office always has the toilet paper coming from the top and is kept clean for your use. There are even pads and tampons if you find yourself in need. 🙂

And if you have the toilet paper come from the bottom at your house, that’s cool. You do you, boo!

Favorite hobby?

SNOWBOARDING! I LOVE snow. I’ve been skiing since I was three!

What is your most effective parent strategy?

It’s hard to pick just one, but singing has worked the absolute best lately. I sing when the kids are hurt, angry, or having a tantrum. During all those escalated moments, I sing. It calms me and eventually calms them.

Also, I love singing them a good night song (and this comes from the person who didn’t sing out loud until I was in my late 20s!).

What is your Human Design type?

I’m a 6/2 Manifesting Generator with Emotional Authority, raising a 6/2 Generator with Emotional Authority and a 1/3 Manifestor with Emotional Authority.

Our house is super fun and dynamic!

Astrological signs?
I’m a Virgo sun, Aquarius moon, and Libra rising. I’m raising an Aquarius sun, Aquarius moon, Scorpio rising, and a Virgo Sun, Taurus Moon, and Libra rising.
Myers-Briggs type?
I’m a proud INFJ! Even though that’s one of the least common personality types, I seem to be surrounded by them. All INFJs unite!
Can you tell that I’m a bit of a personality nerd?

I love all the personality traits that have given me a deeper insight into my identity. So, fellow travelers, bring them in if you also love personality types! We can use them to empower your transformation so you can be Radically Authentic!
